Six months ago, Ashling Campbell’s life was good. Okay, so the sleep deprivation sucked, but that’s what happens when you’re murdered by bloodthirsty demons on a nightly basis via freaky supernatural nightmares. That’s why she stepped up to her calling as a dreamwalker. But if she’d known that saving her town meant giving up everyone she loved, she’d have let that call go straight to voicemail.

She wants another chance. Just one. And the key to that chance lies with finding the mysterious stranger who disappeared shortly after her life went to hell. Her new mission is to dreamwalk again, or die trying.

The Jumlin wants another chance too. Just one. And the key to that chance lies with finding the weird sophomore who showed up just before he could summon hell on earth. His new mission is to stop the line of dreamwalkers, by killing just one - a girl that seems all too eager to die.

If Ash’s plan is to succeed, she’ll have to outsmart the immortal demon, piece together her thorny family tree, deal with a friend’s untimely return, and pass her driver’s test - all before she turns… SIXTEEN.

Two years... I have waited for this book for two years. It was a long wait and sometimes I wasn't sure if there even would be a second book. But then, finally, here it is. The second installment in the Dreamwalker Diaries. Was it worth the wait? YES, yes it was. With a lot more background information about how it come about the dream walkers and the first victim of the Jumlin. The book pics up where the first one ended, with Ash facing the consequences of trying to get her hands on sleeping pills. She's desperate to find help for getting her mom back. But nothing can prepare her for the journey ahead of her. Seeing her mom as a teen, Tate coming back to town with Nadette in tow, Glen making a appearance at her door, the Jumlin catching on to her actions and the feelings she has for a boy she thought not liking. Action filled, "Sixteen" is a real page turner and I couldn't put the book down. The ending gives me hope that there might be a third book in the future. "The Dreamwalker Dairies" is a series I highly recommend to all YA adult readers. If you haven't read the books yet, grab the first in this series, "Fifteen" and start reading. You're missing out on a real good story!

Sixteen The Dreamwalker Diaries Book 2 eBook Jen Estes Reviews

Well, that was definitely worth the wait.

The loooong wait. Two years I've been dying to see what happens to Ash!

Dear Ms Estes - I'm old. I'm ancient. I'm way too old to be reading a young adult book, but this series sucked me in with Fifteen and won't let go. Please don't pull a George R R Martin on me - I don't want to die before the series is finished. *sob*

Time travel...parallel universes...alternate dimensions....I'm a sucker for them. That - plus the fact that Ash is definitely one of the better teenager characters I've read - means I'm hooked on The Dreamwalker Diaries series.

You must read Fifteen before reading this. You can get the gist of the tale without having read it, but you'll appreciate the characters and the story a helluva lot more...also, just read it! ) Sixteen delves deeper into the Dreamwalker lore. We get a prologue that tells us of their beginnings, and the characters really start to get deeper and more interesting. Except Nadette. She's still a bitch. She'll always be a bitch. Heh. )

Ash has got a better hold on her abilities - she's determined to change things in her present, so the horrendous future will never happen. Problem is, changing things now, doesn't necessarily mean the changes to the future are good. She needs help to learn more so she tracks down the doctor in the first book who did the sleep study with her. He said he was a doctor...what he really is will shock you..Click here for more!

Heh. Gotta tell you, I didn't see that coming. I had my suspicions about Dr Rob Deitz, but I was way off base. Came right out of left field for me.

Poor Ash. Her world is pretty much turned upside down - dreamwalking, her mum, her friends. How she's not collapsing under the stress I'll never know.

If you're not a fan of young adult, give this a go. The teens aren't whiny (except Nadette), annoying (except Nadette) or a pain in the arse (except...you get the picture). Of course, Nadette is supposed to be that way - we are supposed to hate her. Nadette is like the Veda Pierce of the Dreamwalking world. Seriously.

Damn good writing, a brilliant plot that I love, and the vast majority of the characters are excellent. Oh, and more Coop and Caleb please!
Sixteen (The Dreamwalker Diaries #2) by Jen Estes is a terrific follow up and I had to gulp this down in one big hunk! Wow, it was so good. It started where Fifteen left off but if you didn't read Fifteen, the author gives you enough info to get the drift of what went down without giving away to many spoilers. (Read Fifteen, do yourself a big favor! You will be glad you did! Awesome book!) There is more dreamwalking in this book, time traveling, lots of surprises, demons, and demon hunting..oh yeah! I am not much for time travel books, although I love fantasy, but this author does it right! Love the great characters, the plot, the action, the fun dialogue, and all the unexpected surprises. She just has to make another book! I will be (im)patiently waiting...Loved this book! Thanks Curiosity Quills for giving me the chance to read this!
